With composable villains, we can leverage the infamy of their threat to reliably instill fear into our audiences -- when people hear ‘zombies’ they know they need to board their windows, when people hear ‘mind flayers’, they know their mind is at stake.

And, when people hear ‘Violette’, they will know they need to equip a book or chronicle (or something! quick!) or else their cold corpse will join her terrifying undead army!
